Atlanta Caribbean Folk Festival, hosted by the Atlanta Caribbean Folk Festival
Committee, is quickly becoming one of the most talked about Carnivals in the
United States. The 19 year-old celebration is conducted in the heart of Atlanta, the largest city in the
Southeastern United States, every Memorial Day Weekend. Attracting visitors from all the
United States, as well as, Europe, Canada and the Caribbean, the carnival is a world
recognized event.
Atlanta Caribbean Folk Festival has succeeded in attracting many sponsors, such as Coca Cola,
Air Jamaica, Heineken, Guinness, Chrysler and many more. The entertainment is non-stop
with bands and artists coming from all around the world.
The parade through the city is a spectacle like no other. The parade features live
performances from a diverse group of artists representing the Caribbean and Latin America
with music such as soca, reggae, calypso, jazz, and more. There are vendors selling all types of
Caribbean paraphernalia, including shirts, flags, CD's, art pieces, and lots more.
The air is filled with the sweet smell of Caribbean and Latin flavors. There is food
everywhere. Foods such as escovitch fish, jerk chicken, curry goat, roti, and much more.
With all this and more, the Atlanta Caribbean Folk Festival is a litany of entertainment, food,
and culture whose time has come.
